Airy and light, and boasting some incredible equipment, you can stretch out, work out and chill out in style. With views over the golf course to admire as you sweat, you’ll find Technogym cardio and resistance machines, a full rack of free weights, a dedicated abs area and fully adjustable Matrix cable crossovers to improve strength and condition.

And with more than 20 fun fitness classes on offer each week, there’s no excuse not to keep your fitness on track. Old favourites like circuits HIIT, yoga and pilates are all on offer in the large and open plan fitness studio. Or make this the time you try something new, such as the combat-inspired Kai-Bo or kettlebells. Each class takes a maximum of 30 people and there’s a first come, first served system.

The Fairway Grill

The 19th hole is always the best part of any golf course. And with stunning views across the greens from its floor-to-ceiling windows, you’ll feel like you’re actually on the course. Drink it all in from a cosy, comfy booth, then enjoy beautifully presented dishes, like steaks or fresh fish straight from the grill, served with chunky chips. Just leave room for the salted caramel profiteroles - well, spa breaks are all about indulgence.

The Patio

Time for a sundowner? The Patio provides the perfect suntrap for a cocktail or two, with picturesque views over the 18th hole. Get sociable over a Mediterranean style sharing plate, or tuck into a stone-baked pizza. Then, when the sun finally sets, gather round the fire pit to continue long into the night.

Love to have a dip when you’re on a pampering break? You’re in luck. The swimming pool at Formby Hall has 20 glorious metres to swim in, so it’s ideal for lengths, laps or just for lounging, book in hand. 

To keep the ambience zen-like only a limited number of people are allowed in the pool and thermal facilities at any one time. Check your confirmation to see your allocated time, or book your slot at reception.

It does. From classic rooms to junior suites, all 76 sumptuous rooms here are designed for more than just sleeping. Each one has ample space, big comfy chairs and large TV's, and some have picturesque views over the golf course and countryside beyond. For extra luxury, try the gorgeous loft rooms. Not only do they have a floor all to themselves , there’s a private key card entry system that makes you feel like a real VIP. 

Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is at 11am.

At Formby Hall you’re surrounded by so much greenery and fresh air that you could easily forget you’re just 15 miles from the buzzing city of Liverpool. But while the bright lights beckon, Formby itself is well worth a visit. Formby Beach is idyllic with its vast swathes of sand, dunes and woods - plus views across the Irish sea.

The spa provides the towel, robe and slippers, so just pack a swimming costume - or two so that you’ve got a dry one to change into for your treatment. If you’re here on an overnight break and using the spa before checking in, bring an extra bag and the spa will store your suitcase for you.

Other than that, bring your gym kit and trainers so you can keep fit and have fun with a group class or work up a sweat in the state-of-the-art fitness suite. And don’t forget a good book for all that lounging you’ll be doing!

Make time to visit the National Trust Formby Beach - a coastal nature haven that even has two fascinating shipwrecks and some prehistoric footprints to view. Formby’s also home to a red squirrel reserve - they’re used to being fed and are very tame.

You can make your stay at Formby Hall as laid-back or as action-packed as you like. For the adventurous there’s challenging golf, or you can hire bikes to explore the local beaches and countryside - they can even make you up a picnic to take with you. 

The Formby Hall Spa offers an extensive choice of massages, body and facial treatments. And there’s an indoor pool, hydro pool and thermal suite that includes, sauna, steam room, laconium cabin and experience showers. 

Fitness lovers will enjoy the extensive gym with its Technogym equipment, or there’s a full timetable of fitness classes to enjoy.

Yes. There are six disabled parking bays in total and level access through automatic doors to the main reception hall, restaurant, bar and lounge.

Very. In fact the hotel makes its younger guests their top priority. To make their time here extra special, children get activity packs on arrival and can take part in Roary the lion’s scavenger hunt around the grounds - with prizes once they’ve found all the items on the list.

Kids are welcome in the pool between 10am and 11am, 12pm and 1pm and 5pm and 6pm, and there are children’s menus to tempt even the pickiest of eaters.
