Alexander House isn’t all about lounging in hot tubs (unless you want it to be, of course!) Reaching your workout goals is a breeze here, thanks to all the fitness-fostering activities on offer.

Working out feels less of a chore at the state-of-the-art fitness suite. Hit the Spin bikes, go for a PB on the rowing machine or tone up with some weights. Once you feel you've earned a rest, head to the wonderful outdoor hydrotherapy pool to unwind.

Not a gym lover? We hear you. The hotel’s 120 acres of gardens and trekking trails are yours to explore - just pick up a map at reception. While you’re there you can book a tennis court or hire a bike. And with giant chess or croquet on the lawns, your day can be every bit as action-packed as you choose.

When you’re having an indulgent spa break it’s important that the eating and drinking options are equally as luxurious. Luckily, Alexander House doesn’t disappoint. 

Reflections

Here on a spa day that includes lunch or dinner? You’ll enjoy it in Reflections, the two AA-rosette winning restaurant. Light and airy, with a relaxed, bistro-feel, it connects the spa to the hotel. Here in winter? Reflections has a comfy lounge with a roaring fire. Sun come out to play? You can eat al fresco on the beautiful courtyard terrace. The even better news? You don’t have to leave the comfort of your robe.

AGs

Booking in for Sunday lunch at AGs is a must if you’re at Alexander House over the weekend. The proud winner of three AA rosettes, there are roast meats with all the trimmings, vegetarian options and delicious desserts to savour.

1608 Champagne Bar

Spa days and Champagne are a match made in heaven. Enjoy delicious cocktails and hand-picked bubbly in the plus surroundings of the 1608 Champagne Bar. Named after the oldest brick found in the hotel’s Jacobean walls, we won’t blame you if you want to settle in for the night.

Water baby? You’ll be in heaven. Alexander House’s sumptuous spa has an atmospheric 15m indoor pool complete with Tuscan columns and Gothic alcoves. Feel like a Greek god or goddess as you swim your laps, then hit the hydrotherapy pool and bubble tub. Drift round the saunas, steam rooms and monsoon showers, then head outside for an outdoor hot tub in the sunshine. 

Planning an early morning dip? Or maybe you fancy a warm bubbling outdoor spa as the sun goes down. We don’t blame you. Luckily, the spa at Alexander House is open from 8am to 8pm each day.

Spa break? Meet dream location. You’ll find Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa In East Grinstead, overlooking the South Downs. The hotel backs onto 14 acres of National Trust woodland. London is within easy reach, and Gatwick Airport is just 14 minutes’ drive away, while Wakehurst Royal Botanic Gardens is a seven-minute drive.

The dress code for the three AA-rosette-winning AG's is elegantly smart. No need for a jacket and tie for men, but definitely no sportswear! But if you’re here on a spa day that includes a meal in Reflections, you don’t even have to change out of your robe.

Robes, towels and flip flops are provided, but you’ll need your swimwear (and because there are no swimwear drying facilities on offer here you may wish to bring more than one). Dry underwear or swimwear is also a good idea to wear to your treatment. 

Otherwise, you might want to bring wellies or hiking boots for walks. The hotel has 120 acres of gardens and trekking trails to explore. Bring your leggings for a game of tennis or a workout at the gym and something smart/casual to wear for dinner.

Here on a spa staycation? You’re in for a treat. Alexander House has 57 individually-designed rooms and suites. While some look traditional and others are more contemporary in style, they’re all equally heavenly. In fact, we dare you not to feel like Lord and Lady of the manor here. 

Choose from Cosy Attic, Comfy Kings or Luxury Super King Rooms. Here on a special occasion? Spa Suites boast Egyptian cotton sheets, a roll-top bath made for two, Temple Spa products, and a rainshower that transforms into steam rooms at the press of a button. 

You can check in anytime from 3pm, while check-out is at 11am. Need to come a little earlier, or stay a little later? There’s an early check in at 12pm, or late check out at 2pm, each one charged at an extra £50 per room.

Looking for a spa break that lets you escape the kids for a while? This is the place to be. Under 18s aren’t allowed to use the spa or pool facilities. And, while children can stay at the hotel, Alexander House has more of a grown-up vibe.

You’ll find wheelchair ramp access to the main reception, restaurant and bar. There are lifts to all floors and designated disabled parking spaces, but no specifically adapted rooms.

It is, so why not treat your furry friend to a luxurious stay? Small and medium-sized pooches can check in for £40 per stay, and they’re treated like real VIPs. Dog-friendly rooms feature stylish fittings, wooden floors, and easy access to the outdoors. Expect a comfortable bed, bowls, and delicious treats from The Dog House. They can join you on the terrace and in the Lounge. There’s even a doggy afternoon tea menu served in the Champagne Bar.

No, but there is some good news for those who like to pamper and parr. Copthorne Golf Club is just a ten-minute drive away and it’s a beautiful place to tee off. Located in the tranquil countryside, 18 holes of golfing heaven await you at this challenging course.
