Dining at Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa is a delight, thanks to the synergy between the no-dig garden and the kitchen. Home-grown vegetables from the hotel’s own beds mingle on the menu with Exmoor venison and south-west seafood at the conservatory-style Garden Grill, so ingredients are as locally-sourced as you can get! 

Sink into the plush, banquette seating. But if that’s not natural enough for you, there is another option. You can eat semi-alfresco in the dining domes in Bishtopstrow’s manicured gardens. Hidden just off the winter terrace, they’re decorated with exquisite ornaments, creating a magical atmosphere whenever you’re dining under the stars.

Local ingredients and the kitchen garden are also the inspiration behind Bishopstrow’s must-try afternoon teas. Served in the Garden Grill or an elegant lounge, nothing beats a brioche roll filled with Severn & Wye smoked salmon, along with innovative mini cakes made by in-house pastry chefs. There are two! Water babies will be in heaven in the indoor 13.5m swimming pool, complete with hot tub, sauna, steam room and monsoon shower. There’s also an outdoor pool that’s open in the summer, along with an outdoor hot tub.

Bishopstrow has 36 bedrooms, filled with the bright, zingy colour palette that is synonymous with the Kaleidoscope hotel brand. Expect Paul Smith-stripe headboards, flamboyant wallpapers and luxury touches like Dyson hair dryers. In the main house, rooms have original features and far-reaching views. Rooms in the converted stables courtyard are dog-friendly, while enormous suites have their own outdoor hot tubs and private gardens.

Bishopstrow is one mile east of Warminster in Wiltshire, five miles from Longleat and 15 miles from Stonehenge. The quirky town of Frome is a 20-minute drive away, while the National Trust gardens at Stourhead and the charming city of Bath are within a half-hour drive. 

Sightseeing opportunities abound, but the grounds are so pretty you may not wish to venture too far afield. Borrow a pair of wellies and go exploring. On the banks of the River Wylye, Bishopstrow Hotel is nestled in manicured gardens, woodland and pastures.

Yes it is, with a range of family-friendly bedrooms, children’s meals and activities laid on in the school holidays. Kids can let off steam in Bishopstrow’s 30 acres of grounds. You can even challenge your clan to a game of tennis on the tennis courts.

While you have to be over 16 for a treatment or to use the gym or thermal facilities, Bishopstrow’s indoor pool has child-friendly swim times from 8am to 10am and 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Children can use the outdoor pool all-day, every day (subject to opening times).

The hotel’s delightful vintage means that it’s not the easiest to navigate with a wheelchair. Bishopstrow is set over several stories and because it's Grade II-listed there’s no lift. However, there are some Courtyard rooms with adapted showers that suit guests with mobility issues.

Yes it is. Dogs can check-in for £35 per night, and your canine companion is welcome almost everywhere in the hotel, including the lounges and bar. Bishopstrow’s 30 acres of grounds make for some excellent walkies, and there’s a dog washing station to clean off muddy paws. The hotel provides doggie beds and bowls, and they’ll get their own Woof Box, filled with treats, food and a ball.

Love to pamper and putt? Sadly there’s no golf club at Bishopstrow itself, but hop in the car because West Wilts Golf Club is just two miles away. This 19-hole, inland links course boasts stunning views across three counties from its hilltop position above Warminster.
