About

Pretty streets lined with independent boutiques. Near intact Roman walls. A charming Cathedral and a fabulous position between the South Downs and the sea. There are lots of reasons to visit Chichester, and we’ve got another one to add to your list. The Harbour Hotel Chichester is a beautiful boutique bolthole with an all-day hangout of a restaurant, right in the centre of the city. But it also has a tranquil subterranean spa to retreat to, whenever you’re tired of exploring this lovely corner of West Sussex.

A charming, red-brick townhouse originally built for an admiral, step inside the Grade II-listed Georgian building to find fresh, contemporary interiors. Up a sweeping staircase lie 36 rooms and suites with luxury touches like Egyptian cotton sheets and complimentary decanters of gin. Want to up the romance? Check-in to the self-contained private cottage with its own patio, complete with heaters for snuggling up under the stars.

Serious foodies make a beeline to the hotel’s destination restaurant, The Ship, to indulge in pre-theatre dinners, lingering lunches and decadent afternoon teas. But the main draw here has to be the HarSPa. This urban oasis has everything you need to feel relaxed and refreshed, thanks to four luxurious treatment rooms, a steam room and a stunning hydrotherapy pool.

Looking for things to do while you’re in town? Chichester’s magnificent cathedral, Festival Theatre and quaint shops are well worth a visit. Pallant House Gallery is a must for art lovers, or you can go back in time at the fascinating Fishbourne Roman Palace. Fancy a flutter? Then head to Goodwood races - it's only five miles away by car. Or take a stroll along the gorgeous sands of West Wittering overlooking Chichester Harbour and the South Downs beyond.

The Spa & Wellness at Chichester Harbour Hotel & Spa

Luxuriate in inner-city serenity in HarSPA at the Harbour Hotel Chichester. It’s so easy to feel well away from the outside world in the hotel’s sumptuous underground spa.

Here for a treatment? Lucky you! Choose something from a mouthwatering menu of Elemis and Templespa rituals, performed from the luxurious comfort of four tranquil treatment rooms. There are some stunning treatments and therapies on offer here, so you may need a few minutes to pick the ones that hit the right note.

Therapists here specialise in holistic therapies combined with expert technique. You’ll definitely find something to help you rediscover your inner zen! Later, you can prolong the feel-good factor by basking in the stylish hydrotherapy pool, before unwinding in the heat of the steam room.

The Gym & Fitness at Chichester Harbour Hotel & Spa

Nailing your fitness goals is easy when you’re staying at the Chichester Harbour Hotel. Its boutique, urban gym is packed with equipment to help you work up a sweat. With cardio kit and weights, you’ll never be stuck for something to do.

But why exercise indoors when there’s fun to be had (and calories to be burned) in the fresh air? Take a stroll (or paddle a canoe) along Chichester Canal, a leisure waterway running four miles from the Basin to the Harbour at Birdham.

Prefer to travel by two wheels? The Salterns Way cycle path leads you directly to West Wittering beach from Chichester City Centre. This huge expanse of sand is perfect for watersports.

Restaurants & Food at Chichester Harbour Hotel & Spa

Harbour Hotel Chichester is a destination for foodies, thanks to The Ship. With a smart bar that greets you as you come in, you can perch for a perfectly poured cocktail before dinner - or nestle into a casual armchair for a nightcap.

But what to eat? At this stylish seafood bar and grill, you’ll find the catch of the day, served alongside dry-aged steaks. Menus here showcase regional flavours, using local produce and seasonal ingredients. Our tip? You can’t leave without trying the specialities - fish pie, and the twice-baked cheese soufflé.

During the day you’ll find it’s a great spot for long, lingering lunches or indulgent afternoon teas. With a fresh, contemporary decor, nothing beats a glass of fizz while watching the hustle and bustle of the street below.

I visited Chichester Harbour Hotel with my daughter. It was her 1st experience of going to a Spa. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, the lunch was delicious and the massage was fabulous. However, having been to various spa’s before I would say the facility was disappointing, a very small pool and a steam room that was out of order. We were given a discount for the steam room, but had I have been informed it was out of order, I would have book somewhere else as it was my daughter’s 1st experience.

My friend and I wanted to get away from it all for a weekend of pampering, but we didn’t want to be out in the country. We chose the Chichester Harbour Hotel because it seemed like a quiet retreat but it was also in the city. The perfect choice! We had a great time, the hotel itself was really stylish and the people there were so friendly. I loved the spa and the restaurant was fab. I don’t usually like to go to the same place twice but I think I’ll be making an exception at some point in the future. Hopefully very soon!
