About

Want to really get away from it all? There’s an air of serenity in Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, and it pervades every corner of this oh-so idyllic retreat. Whether you’re here for a few hours or for several days, you’re going to fall in love with the ambience that embraces you from the moment you arrive.

Nestled in 200 acres of glorious parkland, this is Merseyside countryside at its most stunning. But although you’re surrounded by greenery, vast swathes of sand and wide open spaces lie just three miles away at nearby Formby Beach.

Perched on the north-west coast of England, there’s so much natural beauty to enjoy you could easily forget you’re just 15 miles from the buzzing city of Liverpool. Birthplace of the Beatles and home to more listed buildings than anywhere in the UK bar London, there’s also designer stores, art, culture and nightlife a-plenty. But there’s so much to see and do on the hotel’s own doorstep, too, including the chance to pay a visit to the lovely seaside town of Southport.

With more than 76 sumptuous bedrooms and a whole host of amenities, overnight stays at Formby Hall are always blissful. In fact your time here can be as action-packed or as chilled out as you want.

Make the most of every moment. There’s an 18-hole Championship Course, the 9-hole Woodhey Dunes Course and a PGA Academy for those who like to pamper and putt. Float in and out of the award-winning spa with its ten peaceful treatment rooms, an unforgettable thermal experience and a 20m heated indoor swimming pool for laps and lounging with your someone special.

And when day turns to night, you can bring out your inner foodie at the incredibly stylish Fairway Grill Restaurant. Or dine under the stars on the Patio - Formby Hall’s cosmopolitan outdoor space.

The Spa & Wellness at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa

Renew, relax, revitalise at the stunning spa at Formby Hall. Whether you’re planning a catch-up, a celebration, or simply need some me-time, the facilities here are so extensive, they have everything you need to help you unwind.

You could spend all day here, drifting from one delightful moment to the next. First stop, the pool. At 20m it’s long enough for laps, or just pull up a comfy bed and lay back for some poolside lounging.

Go on a thermal journal that takes you from the gentle, dry heat of the laconium cabin to the deeply cleansing Himalayan salt sauna. When heated, the Himalayan crystal salt gives off negative ions that work together with the sauna to stimulate and detoxify.

Flit from spa pools to steam rooms and experience showers. If the ice fountain doesn’t tempt you, the heated relaxation beds surely will.

When it’s time for your treatment, there’s a menu of ESPA treatments designed to spoil you, whether you’re seeking beautiful skin or inner calm. Pure and natural, and with a holistic philosophy, they’re deeply nurturing for your whole wellbeing.

Here with someone special? For something a little different try the Atlas Rasul mud steam room. With space inside for two, you’ll enjoy a sweet-smelling, skin-enriching mud treatment, followed by a steam and a rainfall shower.

Apply the final finishing touches to your spa escape with a mani/pedi or beauty treat, then float out of the spa, glowing from top to toe.

The Gym & Fitness at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa

A fresh place to work out equals fresh motivation. And, whether you’re already a gym-goer or are considering restarting your regime after a break, Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa has everything you need to help you reach your full fitness potential.

Airy and light, and boasting some incredible equipment, you can stretch out, work out and chill out in style. With views over the golf course to admire as you sweat, you’ll find Technogym cardio and resistance machines, a full rack of free weights, a dedicated abs area and fully adjustable Matrix cable crossovers to improve strength and condition.

And with more than 20 fun fitness classes on offer each week, there’s no excuse not to keep your fitness on track. Old favourites like circuits HIIT, yoga and pilates are all on offer in the large and open plan fitness studio. Or make this the time you try something new, such as the combat-inspired Kai-Bo or kettlebells. Each class takes a maximum of 30 people and there’s a first come, first served system.

But if you thought visiting the gym was all hard work and rough towels, think again. Here, fitness and luxury go hand in hand. Where else could your post-workout routine involve a Himalayan salt massage, a relaxing massage or a sauna?

Restaurants & Food at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa

Ultra-indulgent spa breaks need ultra-indulgent food to match. Luckily at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa you’ll find the food is every bit as fine as the spa treatments!

The Fairway Grill

The 19th hole is always the best part of any golf course. And with stunning views across the greens from its floor-to-ceiling windows, you’ll feel like you’re actually on the course. Drink it all in from a cosy, comfy booth, then enjoy beautifully presented dishes, like steaks or fresh fish straight from the grill, served with chunky chips. Just leave room for the salted caramel profiteroles - well, spa breaks are all about indulgence.

The Patio

Time for a sundowner? The Patio provides the perfect suntrap for a cocktail or two, with picturesque views over the 18th hole. Get sociable over a Mediterranean style sharing plate, or tuck into a stone-baked pizza. Then, when the sun finally sets, gather round the fire pit to continue long into the night.

The spa break was a gift for my Mum's 80th birthday and we kicked off with pre-booked facials. We were so relaxed afterwards and our skin felt so lovely! The evening meal was delicious, I had pate and she had the duck potato cake, then we both had the salmon. The service and food were spot on. Breakfast was everything you could have wanted, and the spa facilities were great. Our room was perfect, comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom, clean and spacious. The best aspect was the staff though. As a manager, I would have been so proud of them - warm, helpful, accommodating, nothing was too much trouble - they are an excellent team and made our stay so relaxing and special, thank you so much!

Had a great weekend away - 2 nights of pure relaxation. I had over an hour of treatments & pampering by Jade in the spa. We had delicious food, breakfast, evening meal and afternoon tea and made the most of the upgrade in the junior suite. Highly recommend.
