About

Need to recharge your batteries? Let Foxhills Spa at Old Down Estate help you press life’s reset button. Tucked away in a breathtaking country park with views that stretch across the River Severn into Wales, this contemporary spa lets you feel thoroughly pampered as you reconnect with nature.

From its manicured spa garden with outdoor hot tub to the azure indoor pool flanked by comfy loungers, this purpose-built spa offers luxury and tranquility in abundance. Immaculately built with grey stone, the day spa makes a sympathetic addition to the adjoining Old Down Manor, a spectacular mansion built in 1856 and now a chic wedding venue.

Both the spa and its grand neighbour nestle on the manor’s former estate grounds, some 66 acres which have been transformed into a country park crammed with attractions. Outdoorsy types can wander the woodlands, get lost in the maze, ramble through wildflower meadows, pet cute animals or have fun in the adventure park.

Getting active in the fresh air is easy at Old Downs Country Park. But if sightseeing is more your bag, you’re just 13 miles from the centre of Bristol. Highlights include the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Brunel’s SS Great Britain and the city’s Museum & Art Gallery. Needless to say, you’ll also find some wonderful retail therapy in the heart of this fascinating metropolis.

Our recommendation, though, is to stay close to Foxhills Spa, to linger over the heavenly experiences on offer. Choose from a menu of Elemis rituals to be enjoyed from the comfort of two deliciously tranquil treatment rooms. Take a dip, then lounge pool-side cocooned in your complimentary robe and slippers. Soak up the heat in the outdoor hot-tub. At Foxhills Spa you get more than just me-time. You get the time and space you need to thrive.

The Spa & Wellness at Foxhills Spa at Old Down Estate

Renew, relax, revitalise at the stunning Foxhills Spa. This hidden gem tucked away on the Old Down Estate has a quiet, intimate setting that’s perfect whether you’re planning a catch-up, a celebration, or simply need some me-time.

Leave the wide open spaces of the country park behind and enjoy facilities designed to help you unwind. With so many different lounging pods and hanging spa chairs to experience, you could spend all day just drifting from one delightful moment to the next.

Put your soft snuggly robe and slippers on, because your first stop to pampered perfection awaits you at the pool. At 10m this azure lagoon is long enough for laps, or just pull up a comfy lounger and lay back, book in hand. But with bi-fold doors that open out onto that stunning spa garden beyond, will you be able to concentrate?

Pad outside for a dip in the outdoor spa pool or soak up the sun along with your surroundings. And should all the lounging work up a thirst, head to the relaxation room for a refreshment from the counter..

Then, when it’s time for your treatment, there’s a menu of Elemis treatments designed to spoil you, whether you’re seeking beautiful skin or inner calm. Pure and natural, and with a holistic philosophy, they’re deeply nurturing for your whole wellbeing.

Apply the final finishing touches to your spa escape with a mani/pedi or beauty treat, then float out of the spa, glowing from top to toe.

The Gym & Fitness at Foxhills Spa at Old Down Estate

Nothing beats the great outdoors when you’re craving some healthy exercise. And, thanks to Foxhills Spa’s fabulous country park setting, you’ll have access to as much wide open space as you could possibly want!

There may be no gym on-site, but the Old Down Estate’s 66 acres of lush landscaped grounds provide the perfect natural playground for walking, running, hiking and cycling, so be sure to make the most of it.

It costs £5 to look around the site before or after your spa day but, with an animal park, woodlands, flower meadows and a kitchen garden to explore, it’s well worth it. Laughter releases lots of endorphins, so release your inner child and try the zip wire, climbing area and jumping pillow.

Restaurants & Food at Foxhills Spa at Old Down Estate

If all that pampering has worked up an appetite you’re in for a treat. There are a variety of eating experiences at Old Down Estate, and they’re all just as relaxing as the treatments at its spa.

Full day and half day pampering packages here include afternoon tea prepared by the estate’s own talented chefs. With an ever-changing menu of fine patisserie, sandwiches and savouries, this is afternoon tea at its most innovative.

Nothing beats eating your tea outside in the tranquil spa garden if the weather’s fine. But will you choose to wash it down with something warm and aromatic, or something blonde and bubbly? Hmm, decisions, decisions!

The Old Downs Country Park also has an onsite café serving sandwiches, salads, pasties and homemade cakes, as well as hot and cold beverages. Or head to the Barn Restaurant for a freshly-cooked breakfast. Choose from porridge and pancakes to a full English - there are even delicious vegan options so no one has to miss out.

But for something a little different, why not try the farm shop? From homemade bread to delicious cakes, jams and chutneys, its shelves groan with locally sourced products from independent businesses (including some items from Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm shop) along with seasonal produce grown on the estate by its own gardeners.

I booked the half day revitalising package for three adults as a birthday treat and was not disappointed. On arrival, we were greeted warmly at reception by the team, and we completed our consult survey as we had treatments booked. We were shown around the venue and provided a robe, flip flops, and a towel. The changing facilities and toilets were clean and equipped with ghd hairdryers and elemis hand lotion, body wash, etc. The changing rooms led out to the private gardens, which had loungers, parasols, seating, and a hot tub for use. We did use it, and the water was clean. The jets worked fine, and the temperature was set to 40 degrees, which was welcomed as it was breezy and a bit cooler. We had treatments included, and the room was clean, calm, and comfortable. The therapists were friendly, polite, and informative about products and techniques and experienced in providing a personalised treatment.
