About
If Herefordshire is a treasure trove of rich history and natural beauty, then Holme Lacy House is the jewel in its crown. This hidden gem is one of Warners’ flagship properties, a magnificent Grade I-listed mansion set in 20 acres of immaculate gardens with sweeping views across the Wye Valley. A haven of leisure and relaxation, it’s the sparkling spa retreat your soul has been craving.
Step inside and step back in time, thanks to ornate ceilings, a majestic sweeping staircase and a stately drawing room. Much of the intricate wood panelling was created by Grinling Gibbons, one of the great carvers of the 1700s, and also by Italian craftsmen who then went to work on the Titanic. Or head outdoors to picnic by the lake, stroll around the formal Italian gardens, or discover the hidden walled garden.
Ancient trees and sun-drenched lakes sit on the edge of shady woodlands, but Holme Lacy House offers much more than visual splendour. Your time in this adults-only playground can be as adventurous or laid-back as you choose.
Check in then chill out, with a peaceful dip in the spa’s tranquil indoor pool or a saunter round its thermal suite. Prefer to feel the burn? Fun fitness classes are on offer, along with croquet and pitch and putt.
For those who wish to venture further afield, the cathedral city of Hereford beckons. Immerse yourself in history at the Museum or shop til you drop amid the quaint shops and lovely marketplace. Holme Lacy House is situated almost directly in the centre of the famous Herefordshire Cider Route, so there are plenty of cider mills, distilleries and museums close by. Prefer a good book to a pint of the cold stuff? The annual Hay literary festival takes place just down the road.
With 181 cosy rooms, along with scrumptious spaces to eat, drink and be merry, Holme Lacy House is the full pampering package. So put your robe on, your feet up and your worries down at this splendid country retreat, famous for elegance, history and relaxation all rolled into one.
