Although there’s no gym on-site, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pack your activewear. Not when you can have an exercise bike or treadmill set up in your bedroom, positioned in front of your window so you don’t miss out on that fabulous view. 

Prefer sun salutations to cardio? You’re in for a treat. Choose from weekly group yoga classes or try a private session designed to kickstart your day the healthy way. These take place in a glorious room with a great view, and you can bring your own mat or just use one of the hotel’s. 

Connecting with the outdoors and getting active in the fresh air feels easy here in the stunning Scottish countryside. Murrayshall Country Estate can organise everything from laser clay shooting and axe throwing to river fishing, kayaking and paddle-boarding. Hire bikes to explore the vast estate, or take part in guided walks that go off the beaten track and uncover some hidden treasures.

Barossa

With cosy nooks and roaring fires, head to the hotel’s bar for the finest in Scottish hospitality. Showcasing the best Scottish whisky, along with a great selection of gin and expertly-mixed cocktails, it’s the perfect place for post-massage, pre-dinner drinks. And pinkie fingers aloft because it also serves a sumptuous afternoon tea every day of the week.

Cairns

In the mood for some gastropub-style meals like burgers or fish or chips? At Cairns you’ll find a varied menu and a laid-back vibe. With a name that references the hotel’s outstanding hillwalking location, it offers a mixture of cuisines. Not-to-be-missed is the monthly curry nights where the hotel’s talented Sri Lankan chef Sahan cooks up a storm.

Eòlas

With two AA rosettes and countless ‘best restaurant’ awards gracing its elegant mantelpiece, the hotel’s refined restaurant takes all of its ingredients straight from the bountiful Perthshire larder. Taken from the Scots Gaelic word for ‘experience,' the focus is on providing guests with an unforgettable fine dining experience thanks to its tasting menu. 

There isn’t a swimming pool at present, but watch this space! The hotel is planning to build a stunning new luxury leisure club with a swimming pool, heat treatments and an outdoor Jacuzzi in the near-future.

There is, and it oozes chic sophistication. With design inspiration taken from the gorgeous Perthshire countryside that surrounds it, Murrayshall has 40 rooms ranging from cosy 'Snugs' to huge suites with four-poster beds and roll-top baths. Accommodation is split, with 26 bedrooms located in the main house and 14 in the separate, but equally impressive, Balvaird House.

In-room facilities at Murrayshall Hotel include Ishga toiletries made in Scotland, Scottish shortbread, Nespresso coffee machines and incredible views.

Check-in time is at 3pm and check-out time is 11am for overnight guests. The time you book into the spa at Murrayshall depends on your package, so please check your booking before arrival. 

It’s in Perthshire, just three miles north-east of the charming riverside town of Perth. Nearby attractions include Scone Palace, which is just over four miles away and Perth Racecourse, just under three miles away.

With more than 365 acres to explore there’s an abundance of countryside activities to enjoy both on-site and nearby, including kayak tours, paddle boarding, guided walks and salmon fishing. It’s also a golfers’ paradise, offering 27 holes of parkland golf spread over two courses, with some of the most spectacular views over the rolling Perthshire.

It is. While children aren’t allowed to use the spa, treatments can be performed on those under 18 when they’ve got a parent or guardian present. Murrayshall Hotel itself is a wonderland for children, with children’s meals and their own unique afternoon teas to indulge in. 

And, when it’s time for bedroom stories, spacious Deluxe Family Suites await. These feature a large living area with two double sofas, one of which converts to a sofa-bed. 

The bedroom can be configured as either a king or twin bedded room and with such a plethora of space, a further two adults can be accommodated in the living room area on the sofa-bed and a separate full sized truckle bed. The suite can also be configured to accommodate two adults and up to three children so there’s room for everyone to spread out.

Dogs aren’t just welcome, they’re giving the real VIP treatment at Murrayshall. For just £25 per night per dog (and £15 for any subsequent night stays) your pampered pooch can stay with you in the ground-floor Fairway Suites, located just a short walkies from the hotel. 

They’ll get their own welcome pack complete with poo bags, treats, a ball and a blanket, and you’ll be provided with a dog bed and bowl for use during your stay.

Time for tee? Playing a round is memorable at this luxurious golf hotel. ​​With two parkland courses (the Championship and the Lynedoch), a pro shop and nearby driving range, there’s also a simulator available for practice or you can have lessons from experienced PGA professionals. The estate’s golf courses are open for all, so whether you’re staying overnight or just coming for a spa day, you are most welcome to play - no handicap certificates required!
