About
Nothing says relaxation quite like a spa day at a fairytale mansion nestled in idyllic Suffolk countryside. So it’s no wonder that Seckford Hall Hotel & Spa is such a dream location for those who seek the finer things in life.
Set in 34 acres of gorgeous grounds, this magnificent red-brick Tudor hotel dates back to 1530. As you might expect, history abounds. Queen Elizabeth I once held court here, and rumour has it that beneath the Hall lies a series of secret tunnels leading to the town of Woodbridge - something which proved a source of inspiration for Enid Blyton who once stayed here. This is a place with stories to tell.
Pick your way up the drive and you may start to feel like you’ve wandered onto a film set. From the romantic lake to the immaculate lawns, this country retreat is English garden perfection.
Stop and smell the wisteria, then it’s time to head inside those Tudor wooden doors. Warm up by a log burner, admire the intricate carvings or explore all the quirky nooks and crannies. Go for a spot of lunch at the two AA-Rosette-winning restaurant, 1530, or sink into the contemporary cosiness of the bar and lounge.
On the hotel’s doorstep you’ll find the meandering rivers, pretty towns and stunning coastline that Suffolk is famous for. Woodbridge is often voted one of Britain’s best places to live, and has a number of independent shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. A visit to the Viking site of Sutton Hoo is not to be missed for history lovers, while nearby Orford is one of the prettiest spots on the Suffolk coast.
Just make sure you leave time to visit Seckford Hall’s incredible spa. Set in the adjoining tithe barn, exposed brickwork and gnarly wooden beams provide a stunning contrast to the luxuriously modern facilities beneath. There are five sublime treatment rooms here, a tranquil pool and a fabulous spa garden complete with outdoor hot tubs and a sauna.
Pamper with a treatment from the extensive menu. Soak up the heat in the steam room. But no visit here is complete without savouring a sparkling afternoon tea to remember in the sumptuous spa cafe.

The Spa & Wellness at Seckford Hall Hotel and Spa
Sink into serenity at Seckford Hall Hotel & Spa in Suffolk, a place where only the best will do. The spa has undergone a seriously swish makeover with your utter bliss in mind.
Pick your way across the courtyard and let your journey into self-care and holistic wellness begin. Situated in the mansion’s former tithe barn, this heritage building has been fully restored while keeping its historical features intact. It really is a beauty - all exposed brickwork, wooden beams and glass doors to let the light in.
Your self-care journey begins at the luxurious pool. At 18m it’s long enough for laps, or just take a leisurely dip as you catch up with friends.
Pad along to the newly opened spa garden, but you may just want to take your flip flops off. The theme here is ‘barefoot boutique’, and you’ll be actively encouraged to leave your footwear behind so that you can be grounded with the earth.
Flit between the different thermal experiences on offer in the fresh air. Your personal sanctuary includes outdoor hot tubs, an outdoor sauna, as well as a firepit, sun loungers and a shaded pergola made entirely from reclaimed and recycled wood.
When it’s time for your treatment, there’s a menu of ESPA treatments designed to spoil you, whether you’re seeking beautiful skin or inner calm. Pure and natural, and with a holistic philosophy, they’re deeply nurturing for your whole wellbeing. Apply the final finishing touches to your spa escape with a mani/pedi or beauty treat, then float out of the spa, glowing from top to toe.
The Gym & Fitness at Seckford Hall Hotel and Spa
Fitness fanatic? Seckford Hall Hotel & Spa may not have its own gym, but that doesn’t mean you should leave your trainers at home.
Set in 35 acres of its own glorious Suffolk countryside you can stroll in the grounds, or explore the landscape just beyond - there are walks for all fitness levels nearby. Ask the hotel for an information pack which has details of an hour-long walk that takes you around the gardens and out into the local area.
It’s a great area for cycling too, with quiet coastal roads that meander through Suffolk’s fascinating market towns.
Prefer to exercise with a group of friends? Enjoy the gentle pace of Suffolk’s rivers and coasts with a sailing experience, or hit a bullseye at the friendliest archery clubs this side of The Broads - just ask the hotel for details.
If the gym and classes are more your fitness cup of tea, a ten minute drive takes you to Deben Leisure Centre, a state-of-the-art leisure facility offering a gym along with studios for fun fitness classes.
Restaurants & Food at Seckford Hall Hotel and Spa
Ultra-indulgent spa breaks need ultra-indulgent eating and drinking options to match. Luckily at Seckford Hall Hotel & Spa you’ll find the food is every bit as fine as the spa treatments.
Here on a spa package? You don’t even have to leave the comfort of your robe to indulge. The spa has its own cafe, which serves afternoon tea, coffee and a range of healthy snacks. Add the bubbles if the occasion calls for it - and when doesn’t it?
Back at the hotel, the cosy and contemporary bar and lounge make the perfect location for a cheeky post-spa cocktails and tempting bar food. Go for a fish finger sandwich if you fancied something light, or tuck into a steak if all that pampering has worked up an appetite.
But the star of the show has to be the two AA-Rosette-winning restaurant. Called 1530 after the year the mansion was built, the food is just as full of character as the warm, Tudor charm of the decor. Here, a talented team of chefs use herbs, fruits, and vegetables grown in Seckford Hall’s own kitchen garden. Just make sure you leave room for an indulgent dessert.

An excellent experience. Swam for the first time in 20 yrs in the lovely warm water of the swimming pool. Afternoon tea was delicious. Warm scones and tasty sandwiches. Had to take most of the cakes home. The back massage and facial were exquisite. The heated treatment couch was so lovely and helped make the whole treatment experience divine. Would highly recommend this very relaxing day.

We are extremely disappointed with the significant discrepancies between what was advertised and what we experienced. We paid a considerable amount of money for a relaxing spa day, and instead, we were met with closed facilities, unclean areas, and a broken heating system, all of which we were not informed of beforehand. This lack of communication and the poor condition of the facilities is simply unacceptable. The ‘dine’ part of our experience was amazing! Attentive service and delicious food. It’s just very disappointing about our ‘spa’ experience.

The staff were friendly and my mum enjoyed her treatments. The afternoon tea was filling and delicious. I didn’t book treatments as I was happy to use the pool, steam room, sauna and whirlpool. Unfortunately the steam room wasn’t working at all, the inside sauna wasn’t very warm and one of the whirlpools was closed. Each time I went out to use the open whirlpool there were 2 people in it and that is really its max capacity. Especially if not part of that group of people. The pool area is cooler than I’m used to at other spa facilities, but I didn’t mind this. I was just super disappointed that the steam room wasn’t available as this is my favourite facility.

This was our second time visiting Seckford Hall spa and since our last visit they have finished the development of the outdoor area which has loungers, cold plunge pool, two hot tubs and a sauna. I can imagine coming for an evening spa session would be a lovely experience. All the staff were attentive and friendly with the facilities being very clean. We had booked an afternoon tea and rasul mud experience both of which were enjoyable. Seckford Hall is our spa of choice in the area and will be back.

SpaSeekers Online booking system simple and convenient. Welcomed to venue and facilities explained. Changing rooms clean and comfortable. Comfortable robes and towel provided but had to ask for slippers which are apparently not routinely provided. Pool and other spa areas comfortable and welcoming. Pool nice and warm. Outside area lovely and well equipped with loungers sauna and hot tubs. Afternoon tea very nice with alternative soft drink offered rather than the Prosecco that comes with the simple spa day package.

We had a lovely, relaxing day at Seckford Hall in beautiful surroundings. My wife had the hot stones massage and I had the Swedish. Felt great afterwards and after have the rasul (Mud and steam therapy) and salt body scrub my skin felt so smooth and soft. We both had a nice swim and then coffee in the garden. Finally we rounded off the day with Afternoon Tea and Prosecco....All in all, we will be back to do it all again....Would recommend.
