The gym here has all the machines you need for a full-body workout, with state-of-the-art features and technology to help you in reaching your goals. Love gizmos and gadgets? You’ll enjoy the latest Technogym equipment, along with running machines, cross trainers and weights.

Add some variety to your workout with a group exercise session. Great if you don’t like to go it alone, the weekly timetable is crammed with classes, from low-intensity options like yoga, Flex & Stretch or Yin meditation, to high-energy cardio sessions such as indoor cycling and Spin. They’re a fantastic way to get fit and have fun with friends.

But if your idea of a workout involves lungfuls of fresh air amid stress-busting scenery, you’re in for a treat. The hotel has its own floodlit tennis courts and a petanque course for a bit of friendly competition, along with a nature trail heading out from the grounds through the beautiful woodland.

Suitably pampered, it’s time to spoil yourself with some indulgent eating and drinking. Luckily at the Solent Hotel & Spa, you’ll find the food is every bit as fine as the spa treatments…

FYR

At this theatrical AA-rosette-awarded restaurant chefs cook on an open-fire grill so you get to watch all the action! Feel entertained as you sample the freshest local seafood and grilled meats, served alongside an expertly-curated drinks menu. Dishes here are all about great-quality ingredients, cooked simply to allow the flavours and textures to shine. Make sure you try the FYR signature steak. It’s aged for a minimum of 28 days and cooked to your exact specifications - right in front of your eyes!

Meadow Bar

Time for a sundowner? The adjoining Meadow Bar makes a great spot for an al fresco cocktail or two, served with light bites like nibbles, bar snacks and sandwiches. Backing onto a charming woodland, there’s also a fantastic firepit to gather around with marshmallows for cooler evenings. 

Parson’s Collar

Located just over the road but still owned by the hotel, the Parson’s Collar is the Solent Hotel’s very own pub. With a modern setting and a sunny beer garden, you can go for a tipple (including the hotel’s own award-winning Thwaites Ale), a wood-fired pizza or some traditional pub grub.

It sure does. Set in a converted barn-style building complete with wooden beams, you’ll find 13 glorious metres to swim in. It’s ideal for lengths, laps or a spot of aqua aerobics (currently held every Monday and Wednesday).

The hotel has 117 rooms, with categories ranging from Signature rooms to suites. Here on a special occasion when only the best will do? Book a Premier Suite. With a large lounge area and a spacious bedroom, there’s a complimentary mini-bar with beers, wines and soft drinks to quaff and you’ll get a White Company gift set to take home.

You’re welcome to check in from 3pm, but if you arrive earlier the hotel will happily store your luggage. Check out is normally by 11am but you can request a later check out for a small supplement, subject to availability.

A stay at the Solent Hotel offers more than just a luxury spa. It also makes the ideal base if you wanted to explore the South coast, or take a trip to the buzzing neighbouring cities of Southampton or Portsmouth. Hampshire itself is home to stately homes, grand palaces and great open spaces, so there’s plenty to discover right on the hotel’s doorstep. 

Visit Portsmouth’s historic dockyard for a spot of history and culture. Witness the changing seasons with a visit to Titchfield Nature Reserve or enjoy a romantic walk around New Forest. 

Solent Hotel & Spa is part of Daniel Thwaites, a unique collection of award-winning inns, hotels, and spa hotels across England. Established in 1807, Daniel Twaites is family-owned and Lancashire-based.

While the spa is only available to over 16s, children can splash in the swimming pool on weekdays between 6am and 11am and 3pm and 7pm, and on weekends from 7am to 11am and 3pm and 7pm.  

At the hotel, kids are treated as proper V I Little Ps, with mini dressing gowns, special toiletries of their own, drinks and snacks on arrival, milk and homemade cookies before bedtime and seasonal activity packs. A games room is available in the school holidays, while family and interconnecting rooms ensure everyone has a comfy bed.

The hotel makes a great base for a family adventure. Why not take the kids to Paultons Theme Park – the home of Peppa Pig World? 

It’s not just dog-friendly. Canine companions get the full red-carpet treatment at the Solent Hotel & Spa. You’ll find three dog-friendly ground-floor with dog beds, along with welcome packs for your pooch, complete with poo bags and locally-sourced dog biscuits.

Four-legged guests are welcome in the hotel’s bar and lobby areas, and can sniff around the grounds if you keep them on a lead. Want more of a ramble? Just a short drive takes you to some fabulously dog-friendly beaches.

There’s not a golf course on-site, but Cams Hall Estate Golf Club is just over a ten-minute drive away. Built in the grounds of an old stately home and surrounded by water on three sides, the Peter Alliss and Clive Clark-designed creek course offers a different challenge every time you play it. It includes two long par 5s, plenty of trees and undulating greens with tricky pin positions.
