About

Thought you had to go on a cruise to experience indulgent dining, sun-drenched decks and dazzling sea views? It’s time you said ‘ahoy’ to the Harbour Hotel Southampton. Set on a private marina and designed to look like the super yachts moored just beyond its contemporary glass windows, every detail is planned with your comfort and pleasure in mind. All this and you don’t even have to find your sea legs!

Being treated like a VIP is a ‘shore’ thing here. The critically-acclaimed flagship hotel opened its glitzy doors in 2017 and remains Southampton’s only five-star destination. Located in the city’s buzzing Ocean Village Marina, there are seven stunning floors waiting to navigate. Take a trip up to the sun-trap cocktail bar, HarBAR on 6th. Make time for a blockbuster movie and some popcorn in the private cinema. Indulge in some award-winning fine dining at the Jetty restaurant.

With so much on offer, it’s easy to see what makes the Harbour Hotel Southampton such a popular stopover with passengers en route to a cruise of their own. But the biggest draw of all has to be the jaw-dropping spa. Float away in the sheer relaxation of heat, steam, water - and even mud. Discover post-massage chill-out spaces, both indoor and out. Or just drift into bliss in one of seven tranquil treatment rooms, where HarSPA and Templespa rituals await to pamper, detoxify and revitalise you.

In the evening, as lights sparkle on the harbour, Ocean Village Marina becomes a bustling destination packed with visitors. More than just a marina, you’ll find shops, restaurants, a cinema and bars, and plenty of large yachts to admire as you stroll.

Its heart-of-the-city location means you’re also close to everything Southampton has to offer, from great retail therapy at WestQuay to long walks along the Solent. Southampton City Art Gallery is a must for culture lovers, while the SeaCity Museum, home to Southampton’s Titanic Story, is simply fascinating.

Tempted to drop anchor? The hotel’s 119 sumptuous rooms and suites beckon, many with views over the marina or out across the Solent. Is there any better way to drift off than in a luxurious bed, with the sound of sailing boats lulling you off to a peaceful slumber? We don’t think so!

The Spa & Wellness at Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa

Seeking inner peace in the inner city? Set sail to an oasis of calm located on the water’s edge. The HarSPA at the Harbour Hotel Southampton has been designed with relaxation in mind, so you’ll find everything you need to refresh and renew.

Take a dip in the luxuriously long lap pool. At 17m its tranquil and toasty waters make the perfect place to start your journey to rejuvenation. Or just lounge, poolside, encased in your snuggly robe and gaze out at the glorious views of the waterside beyond.

Breathe deeply in the sauna and steam room, or soak and socialise in the hydrotherapy pool as you catch up with friends. Then, when it’s time for your treatment, seven sumptuous rooms offer body-beautifying, soul-soothing, age-defying rituals from Templespa and HarSPA. Each combines luscious botanicals and high-tech ingredients to pamper, detoxify and revitalise you.

For something a little different, the exclusive mud rasul sees you slathering on mineral-rich mud while wallowing in heat and steam.

With relaxation areas both inside and out and a juice bar (that also serves fizz!) completing the spa experience, you could easily spend the day here drifting from one delightful experience to the next. Warning: you may never want to leave!

The Gym & Fitness at Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa

Got goals? You’ll crush them here. Stretch out, work out and wind down in the Southampton Harbour Hotel’s state-of-the-art gym, equipped with running machines, cross-trainers, bikes and a selection of weight machines and free weights. Make sure you bring your best activewear - rumour has it the gym here has a celebrity clientele.

Friends that sweat together, stay together. So if you don’t like to go it alone, why not take part in a fitness class? Feel zen with Hatha yoga, tighten up with PIlates or try some high-energy Kettle Step. From Boxercise to Body Blast, they all take place in the hotel’s fitness studio and are led by trained instructors.

Not a gym bunny? Don’t sweat it. Being right on the Solent there are so many ways to get your exercise in the salty sea air. An eight-minute walk takes you to Southampton Water Activities Centre where you can work your core windsurfing or stand-up paddle boarding - and all while discovering a brand new hobby.

Ask at reception for a map (and even a picnic!) and take a fascinating walk that showcases the best of Southampton’s maritime history. Or head out into the New Forest for some of the most beautiful and picturesque scenery in England.

Restaurants & Food at Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa

There’s nothing we like more than a luxurious spa hotel with a bar and restaurant that are destinations in their own right. So if all that pampering’s worked up an appetite, you’re in luck at the Harbour Hotel Southampton.

The HarBAR on 6th

Is there anything nicer than getting glammed up and heading to a fancy rooftop cocktail bar after a day spent pampering? We don’t think so. There’s no need to book, so just sit back and soak up the buzzing atmosphere along with some fabulous marina views, preferably with an expertly mixed cocktail in hand. Listen to a DJ spin some tunes and pick something avant-garde from the eclectic bar menu if you wish to linger for longer. And, with its luxe, laidback and urban vibes, chances are you will.

The Jetty

It would be strange to be so close to the sea without making the most of the natural bounty all around you. And the Jetty doesn’t disappoint, featuring the freshest locally-caught seafood and seasonal ingredients on its stunning menu designed by award-winning chef patron Alex Aitken. With stunning vistas by day and magically lit by night, it’s elegant yet informal, and still manages to make you feel super special.

HarSPA Cafe

This juice bar and cafe is ideal for healthy smoothies and snacks, eaten in your robe. Day spa guests can tuck into beautiful light lunches, washed down with some less healthy glasses of fizz.

On arriving it looked quite nice but it’s very small! The pool is tiny and wasn’t that warm with only a few loungers, would be better in the summer as you also have loungers on the deck. There is a small sauna and steam room but was very disappointing to find the sauna out of order! Luckily we had a treatment booked, we had the Himalayan salt rock massage which was amazing! I wouldn’t recommend for a spa day, it’s very basic but to chill for a couple of hours it’s fine.

My daughter and I had a great morning at the spa. Started with a glass of Prosecco then a friendly staff member showed us around. Enjoyed the Jacuzzi and sauna. The pool was rather small. Then had an amazing massage with Himalayan hot stones.

We had a lovely time at the Spa it was without doubt the best massage I have ever had and there were 5 of us in the group and they all thought the same. The only thing I would say is the few beds that there were by the pool had towels left them so you couldn't use them as you didn't know if someone was going to come back. There were a lack of dry towels I couldn't find any. We also had a £25 each voucher for the HarBar for a meal and I asked when I left the spa if I needed to take anything and was told no but they had no record of the voucher and the code I had on my email didn't work I was told when I booked that it was linked to the restaurant so not quite sure what happened they did luckily honour the voucher from my email.

A lovely day with my partner, we used the pool, sauna and received a massage, followed by lunch. The only change I would recommend would be to remove the car from the pool side window, blocking the people watching.

Does the Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa have a swimming pool?

It does. Long and narrow like a lap pool, you can glide through 17m of heated water, while gazing out at the super yachts moored in the marina beyond. Lay back on a lounger, try an aqua aerobics class or hit the hydrotherapy pool where water jets act like your personal masseuse.

Does the Southampton Harbour Hotel & Spa have a golf course?

No, there’s no golf course at the hotel. And because it’s right on the harbour’s edge, most outdoor adventures nearby take place on the water. In fact, Southampton Water Activities Centre is an eight-minute walk away, where you can try your hand at sailing, windsurfing, powerboating or paddle-boarding.

But if you can’t live without your clubs, Southampton Municipal Golf Course is 15-minute drive away, offering 27 challenging holes set within a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty.
