About

With its stunning Abbey and two historic castles, Dorset’s picture-perfect Sherborne is one of England’s most beautiful market towns. But when you’ve finished ticking off the historical attractions, escape to The HIllbrook. This boutique hotel boasts luxurious decor, a serene spa and a destination restaurant. It makes a great spot for a South West staycation.

Newly opened in 2024, each of The Hillbrook’s 24 rooms is beautifully designed and crammed with modern amenities. Chic colour palettes of ivy greens, teals and pink mingle with brass and velvet furnishings. Love your mod cons? You’ll find Nespresso machines, fresh milk for your morning cuppa and gleaming trays of posh toiletries. Some larger rooms even feature mini kitchenettes with Smeg fridges, electric hobs and toasters. But who needs to whip up beans on toast when you’ve got the Raleigh Restaurant waiting for you?

Sip a hand-crafted cocktail at the bar or stay for a hearty Sunday roast. The Raleigh celebrates the best of modern British flavours, and creative dishes from the à la carte menu showcase local Dorset produce. Sample an elegant afternoon tea, or unwind out on the sun terrace. Meanwhile, the on-site Elemis spa is a haven of tranquility. There are no wet facilities, but three atmospheric treatment rooms, a nail bar, sun terrace and swish relaxation room invite you to switch off and spoil yourself rotten.

Time to explore after all that pampering? Nestled in green valleys and wooded hills on the Dorset-Somerset border, Sherborne is a captivating place to visit. Among its wealth of ancient buildings you’ll find a magnificent Abbey, a charming Almshouse and two historic castles, one of which was built by Sir Walter Raleigh. There are shops to mooch or outlet shopping at nearby Clarks Village if retail therapy’s your bag, but The Hillbrook is also surrounded by glorious Dorset countryside, while the Jurassic Coast can be reached in less than an hour.

The Spa & Wellness at The Hillbrook Hotel

Whether you’re in need of a soothing massage, a skin-boosting facial, or a little glow-up with a manicure or pedicure, the spa at The Hillbrook will let you do just that.

Put your worries down and your feet up, as you soak up the serenity of this haven of tranquility. Immerse yourself in luxurious Elemis rituals performed by highly-skilled therapists in three atmospheric treatment rooms. Cocoon yourself in your snuggly robe and soak up some vitamin D out on the sun terrace, with a glass of bubbly in hand.

Weather not playing ball? No problem. You can take an even deeper dive into euphoria from a chic daybed in the stunning relaxation room. Curl up with your book and choose something from the carefully curated menu of drinks and nibbles. But will you choose something healthy or indulgent? Decisions, decisions…

The Gym & Fitness at The Hillbrook Hotel

Gym bunny? While there aren’t any on-site fitness facilities, The Hillbrook has a fabulous heart-of-Sherborne location that makes keeping fit a breeze.

Bring your Fitbit because you can walk, jog or power-walk to all of the market town’s many attractions - it’s less than a mile to the historic centre. Take a Blue Badge walking tour with a knowledgeable guide to learn more about the town’s colourful past as you stroll. Or escape into nature and take in the breathtaking views on a gentle walk along the 9km Sherborne and River Gascoigne circular trail.

Can’t live without the gym? You’re in luck. Bring your activewear because The HIllbrook hotel is a three-minute walk from the Oxley Sports Centre. Fully equipped, it has everything you need to work off the calories from your afternoon tea. Besides the gym and fitness studio, there’s a six-lane, 25m swimming pool and bouldering wall.

Restaurants & Food at The Hillbrook Hotel

If all that pampering has worked up an appetite you’re in for a treat. The Raleigh Restaurant is the sumptuous dining experience on offer at The HIllbrook, and it’s every bit as relaxing as its spa.

Contemporary and elegant while still feeling warm and welcoming, the food here champions local Dorset produce, with a best-of-British menu serving up some traditional classics with a twist. The Sunday roasts and afternoon teas are legendary, but the à la carte menu is innovative, and changes with the seasons.

Nothing beats a post-spa cocktail or nightcap perched at the elegant bar. There are local gins from artisan distilleries to sample. Our tip? Try the Shroton Fair Gin, a locally crafted spirit with deep Dorset roots.
