More than just a spot to rest your head after a day of exploring the Vale of Llangollen, a stay in this beautifully restored 19th-century building will rejuvenate both body and soul. In fact, there’s no better way to relax your post-hike limbs than with a trip to the hotel’s indulgent Llangollen Spa. Take a dip in the toasty indoor hydrotherapy pool or sample the steam room. Gaze up at the sky through the stunning glass roof from the comfort of your poolside daybed.
All that pampering worked up an appetite? Sample the best of Wales’s bounty at the hotel’s Glasshouse Bar and Courtyard then work off your lunch with a 20-minute stroll along the River Dee into Llangollen. One of North Wales’ most attractive towns, there’s a wealth of history and culture to explore. Visit the Llangollen Museum to delve into the area’s past, or admire the UNESCO World Heritage Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Take a hike up to the 11th century Castell Dinas Brân, or shop in the small independent shops.
Our recommendation, though, is to stay close to the Wild Pheasant Hotel and Spa, to linger over the heavenly experiences on offer. Choose from a menu of Elemis rituals to be enjoyed from the comfort of three deliciously tranquil treatment rooms. And just when you thought you couldn’t relax anymore, 47 elegant bedrooms await when you’re ready to call it a night. There’s even a suite with its own balcony hot tub for the ultimate in luxury.
