Waterfront Southport Hotel

A decadent spa break to the Waterfront doesn’t mean leaving your fitness goals at home - unless you want to, of course! While there’s no gym on-site, the hotel has partnered with an award-winning leisure centre that’s just over the road and it’s crammed with cardio machines and free weights so you can tone up in style. 

Steps away from the Waterfront’s front door, Victoria Leisure & Fitness Centre was recently voted Southport’s Best Health & Fitness venue, so you know you’re in good hands. Take your pick from three different workout areas - there’s the main gym, the ladies-only section and a family gym where you can take kids aged 11 and over.

With a weekly timetable of classes including Zumba, spin and ballet fit, three swimming pools and thermal facilities beckon for your post-workout chill-out.

Fitness aficionados looking for something new to try have another option. Nestled in the basement of the Waterfront is Southport’s very first Hyrox gym, called From The Block Fitness. A bit like CrossFit, in a Hyrox session you’ll typically run 1km followed by functional exercises like burpees and sled pushing. If you fancy giving it a go, you can buy a day membership for £5.

Delicious food and divine cocktails are always delightful on a spa break. Luckily, with a fabulous restaurant and chic rooftop bar that make the most of the stunning views, the Waterfront really delivers!

Imagine a menu where you want to try every dish and a cocktail list that makes you want to taste them all. Serving delicious and creative food (flat-ironed smashed cheeseburger, anyone?) dishes here are locally sourced, lovingly made and packed full of flavour.

Roof Garden & Bar

Breathe in the coastal air and raise a glass to the British summertime in this buzzing Roof Garden overlooking the Marine Lake. The place sun-kissed days were made for, grab the girls for a Cosmopolitan, treat your mum to an espresso martini or just soak up the rays in one of the deckchairs. With breathtaking views of Millennium Bridge it's the perfect spot to unwind, have a drink and enjoy some post-spa conversation. In the unlikely event that the British weather lets you down, take cover in the huge indoor bar instead.

While there’s not a swimming pool on-site, the hotel has partnered with Victoria Leisure & Fitness Centre. Right opposite Waterfront Southport’s front door, there’s not one but three luxurious swimming pools here, along with rejuvenating hot spa facilities. The 18m adults only pool is perfect for laps, but there’s also a children’s pool and a hydrotherapy pool that’s really warm and toasty.

There sure is. The perfect spot for some rest and relaxation, there are 131 cosy and comfortable rooms at the Waterfront. Superior Double Rooms are newly-renovated with sleek interiors and modern furnishings, Big Doubles come with their own balcony overlooking the coast - you may even see the Blackpool Tower!

Most fabulous of all, though, are the Penthouse rooms, featuring 180° views and luxurious extras, like huge beds and baths that let you gaze out to the Irish Sea as you soak.

Check-in is from 3pm on your arrival day and you can check out at any time up to 11am on the day of your departure.

The hotel has one of the best locations in Southport, right on Marine Lake and within easy walking distance to all of the seaside town’s main attractions. You’re close to the Pier and King’s Gardens for nostalgic walks, great shopping at Wayfarers Shopping Arcade on Lord Street or just watch the graceful black swans on Marine Lake.

Yes it is. There are five accessible parking spaces in the lower ground floor car park, with a lift that takes you up to reception. The reception desk has a lower-level section and porters can help you with your luggage.

​All bedrooms (excluding the penthouses) can be accessed without any steps, but there are also four bedrooms designed for wheelchair users, and each one interconnects with a twin room. Accessible bathrooms feature flip-down bathroom stools, and emergency pull cords.

It doesn’t, but there are several nearby - well you are on England's golf coast, after all! Southport is famous throughout the world for the quality of its courses which range from serious Championship courses to testing municipals. In fact, the hotel is just an eight-minute drive from Royal Birkdale, home of the British Open Golf Championship. 

If you fancied a fun game of mini golf, Viking Golf is just over half a mile away on the Esplanade. For those who take the game a bit more seriously but don’t want to break the bank, the Sefton Council-owned Southport Links is an 18-hole course which welcomes visitors to play a very reasonably-priced round.
