About
Southport is famous for its expansive beaches and seaside nostalgia by the bucket-and-spade-load. But if long coastal walks in the bracing sea air aren’t relaxing enough, head directly to the Waterfront Southport Hotel. With a stunning rooftop bar, glitzy restaurant and a pampering partnership with its leisure-centre neighbour, it’s a dream destination for those who love to spa beside the seaside.
You can’t get a better location than this. Overlooking the shimmering waters and serene swans of Marine Lake, the hotel is moments from all of Southport’s best bits, from the Pier to Pleasureland. A seven-minute saunter takes you to Lord Street, the grand Victorian boulevard said to be the inspiration behind the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Mooch around quirky independent shops with their original glass awnings, or hunt for bargains in the historic arcades that spin off to the side.
Southport’s green spaces are impressive, with the recently restored King's Gardens, Hesketh Park and the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown all pit stops on the popular Southport Heritage Trail. Or drive south to Crosby Beach where Antony Gormley’s installation, Another Place, features 100 life-size figures scattered across two miles of sand.
But after exploring the sights, know that this idyllic haven awaits. Many of the Waterfront’s 131 rooms and penthouse suites boast spectacular vistas - you might even catch a glimpse of Blackpool Tower on clear days. But the best views of all can be enjoyed from the hotel’s Roof Garden & Bar. Plonk yourself in a deckchair to catch a few rays, sundowner in hand, before heading to dine at the Waterside Marina Restaurant.
Weather not playing ball? They’ve thought of that too. Escape the rain by popping over the road to the Victoria Leisure & Fitness Centre. Just opposite the hotel, spa packages here let you luxuriate in its swimming pool, hydro jet pool and sumptuous thermal suite.

The Spa & Wellness at Waterfront Southport Hotel
A spa break to a hotel with no swimming pool or bubbly hot tub to wallow in? Relax, water baby. The Waterfront has you covered! The hotel has partnered with its neighbour, the luxurious Victoria Leisure & Fitness. Just footsteps from the hotel it has everything you need to relax and restore you.
After a busy day exploring all that Southport has to offer, make time to pamper yourself in Victoria Leisure’s incredible facilities. Sweat it out in the tranquil sauna, or soothe your tired legs in the steam room. Toxins have nowhere to hide!
With not one but three swimming pools, you can do laps of the adults-only pool with no over-excited little ones getting in the way of your bliss. Then all that’s left is to soak in the bubbles of the hydro jet pool, knowing that the heated beds await whenever it’s time to dry off.
The Gym & Fitness at Waterfront Southport Hotel
A decadent spa break to the Waterfront doesn’t mean leaving your fitness goals at home - unless you want to, of course! While there’s no gym on-site, the hotel has partnered with an award-winning leisure centre that’s just over the road and it’s crammed with cardio machines and free weights so you can tone up in style.
Steps away from the Waterfront’s front door, Victoria Leisure & Fitness Centre was recently voted Southport’s Best Health & Fitness venue, so you know you’re in good hands. Take your pick from three different workout areas - there’s the main gym, the ladies-only section and a family gym where you can take kids aged 11 and over.
With a weekly timetable of classes including Zumba, spin and ballet fit, three swimming pools and thermal facilities beckon for your post-workout chill-out.
Fitness aficionados looking for something new to try have another option. Nestled in the basement of the Waterfront is Southport’s very first Hyrox gym, called From The Block Fitness. A bit like CrossFit, in a Hyrox session you’ll typically run 1km followed by functional exercises like burpees and sled pushing. If you fancy giving it a go, you can buy a day membership for £5.
Restaurants & Food at Waterfront Southport Hotel
Delicious food and divine cocktails are always delightful on a spa break. Luckily, with a fabulous restaurant and chic rooftop bar that make the most of the stunning views, the Waterfront really delivers!
Waterfront Marina Restaurant
Imagine a menu where you want to try every dish and a cocktail list that makes you want to taste them all. Serving delicious and creative food (flat-ironed smashed cheeseburger, anyone?) dishes here are locally sourced, lovingly made and packed full of flavour.
Roof Garden & Bar
Breathe in the coastal air and raise a glass to the British summertime in this buzzing Roof Garden overlooking the Marine Lake. The place sun-kissed days were made for, grab the girls for a Cosmopolitan, treat your mum to an espresso martini or just soak up the rays in one of the deckchairs. With breathtaking views of Millennium Bridge it's the perfect spot to unwind, have a drink and enjoy some post-spa conversation. In the unlikely event that the British weather lets you down, take cover in the huge indoor bar instead.
