Can’t live without your lunges? Don’t sweat it, because Ye Olde Bell has its own well-equipped gym. Although it’s part of the hotel rather than the spa, you can still use it free of charge if you’re here as a spa guest.

But don’t worry if you’re not a gym bunny. There are plenty of ways to get active that don’t involve running on a treadmill. Lace up your walking boots, because the National Trust Clumber Park is right on the hotel’s doorstep, offering more than 3,800 acres of picturesque parkland and gardens to hike through.

Herb Garden Brasserie

Here on a spa package that includes lunch? You’ll eat it at the spa’s restaurant. But expect a real treat because the food is created by talented head chef Richard Allen. As well as being a chef, Richard is a qualified personal trainer and nutritionist. Dishes full of flavour are the order of the day. And, while they may be in keeping with the healthy ethos of the spa, you can go just as indulgent or as saintly as you please.

Restaurant Bar 1650

Named as a nod to the original date of the building, this AA-rosette-winning oak-panelled restaurant boasts a jaw-dropping art deco bar in the centre. The creative menus change seasonally to keep things fresh and vibrant, but always include outstanding produce from Nottinghamshire, and neighbouring Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

St Leger Bistro

In the mood for a traditional classic such as fish and chips or a pie? More laid-back than the opulent 1650, the hotel’s bistro has a vibrant atmosphere, an all-day menu and a comfortable setting.

It sure does. The hotel’s vintage afternoon tea is served from Monday to Saturday, between 3pm and 5pm and it’s an extra special affair. Sit by the roaring fire (or in the garden if it’s sunny) and enjoy savoury canapes, open Danish finger sandwiches, golden sultana scones and homemade cakes with a choice of tea or coffee. Add a flute of champagne to make the occasion extra sparkly.

If you don’t fancy leaving your robe, you could just order scones with jam and cream to be eaten in the spa. There’s also a fully licensed bar for soft drinks, cocktails, champagne, wine, beer and spirits. All are subject to availability and individually priced.

Cancel that trip to the seaside, because it really does! Called Sabbia Med, this fun treatment for two to four people replicates sunrise to sunset in a 30 minute cycle. Feel the sand between your toes as you bask in the low levels of UV, to boost your vitamin D without harming your skin.

You’ll find the Sabbia Med experience upstairs in the spa, alongside the treatment rooms. If it’s not included as part of your package and you want to try it (and believe us, you do!) you’ll need to pay extra (subject to availability).

They provide robes and flip flops in a number of sizes. The flip flops are yours to keep and the robes can be purchased if you wish.

The hotel prides itself on feeling very much like a home from home. As such, the dress code is whatever you feel most comfortable in.

There are 60 rooms at Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa. From Classic and Suites to even well-equipped lodges, no two rooms are alike which only adds to the charm. In fact, regular guests soon find their favourites - and the hotel tries to ensure they always get their home from home.

Some guests prefer more spacious rooms with high ceilings ,whilst others enjoy the cosy and cottagey feel of the rooms in the original part of the building which dates back to the 17th century. Several prefer the lodges in the courtyard where they can park at the door and have direct access to the gym. What will your favourite room be?

For overnight stays at Ye Olde Bell, check-in is at 2pm on your arrival day and you can check out at any time up to 11am on the day of your departure. Not an early riser? A later checkout of up until 1pm can be arranged. For spa days, arrival times vary so check your booking confirmation.

Yes it is. All public areas are accessible for wheelchair users and menus are available in large print. If you’re hard of hearing and staying overnight, Deafgard fire alarm systems will wake you in the event of an emergency. The spa is wheelchair accessible, but please note that the vitality pool does not have a pool hoist.

Not much because most things are already ready and waiting for you in the deluxe changing rooms. Hanging up inside your locker there’s a robe, towel and flip flops, plus a bag for your wet swimwear. There’s toiletries available too, so just bring any that you can’t live without.

This sumptuous spa hotel is set in the village of Barnby Moor. It's just off the A1 and right on the border of Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire.

You won’t find a plastic straw or drinking glass in sight! With green credentials that are second to none, there’s also refillable toiletries in the changing rooms, natural cleaning products and electric charging points. 

If lunch is included as part of your spa package you’ll enjoy it in the Herb Garden Brasserie. They take your order when you arrive, so it’s ready to eat when you’re seated, and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your robe to eat it, either!

It is. While treatments and thermal experiences in the spa are usually only available for those aged 16 or over, they do make an exception on selected dates during the school holidays. 

Open to children aged 5 to 15 years, Family, Tiny and Tween Spa sessions give spa-loving little ones a three hour spa experience, with hotter thermal rooms turned off for tiny and family spas and turned down for the tween spa.

Sorry! No dogs are allowed at Ye Olde Bell, with the exception of assistance dogs.

It doesn’t, but there are several nearby. Pack your clubs in the boot, because a scenic 20-minute drive takes you to the warm and welcoming Lindrick Golf Club. Fair, fast and challenging for golfers of all abilities, this Ryder Cup course is one of only a handful in Yorkshire to be consistently ranked in England’s top 100 list. A mixture of heathland and moorland, expect well-kept greens, strategic bunkering and gorse-lined fairways, along with a driving range and putting green if you didn't fancy playing all 18 holes.

A beautiful seven-minute drive takes you to Serlby Park golf course. Set in the sumptuous Serlby Park Estate, its tree-lined fairways provide one of the most enjoyable and picturesque nine holes in the North of England.
